NASW-VI supports H.R. 1354, The Territories Health Equity Act of 2019. Below is the letter sent to the Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee.
Dear Representative Pallone:
We write in support of H.R. 1354, The Territories Health Equity Act of 2019, which would correct a stark injustice in how our fellow Americans who live in U.S. Territories are treated under Medicaid. NASW is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the United States, representing the interests of over 750,000 social workers who provide critically needed mental health and other services in a broad range of settings. The association has a dual mission of advocating for the social work profession and advocating for the individuals, families, and communities served by social workers. There are 215 NASW members who live in U.S. Territories.
